How to Create an Amazon SES API Key?

The Amazon API key allows you to analyse the bounce rates, feedback and other performance metrics from the SES dashboard. Using the API key, you can enable automation for your email marketing campaigns. Here’s the step-by-step guide for creating an Amazon SES API key.

Identity & Access Management Dashboard
  • Login to your AWS account and type “IAM” in the search bar.

User Navigation
  • Click on the “Users” button from the IAM dashboard.

  • Then click on the “Create User” button and give a name to it.

Policy Attachment
  • Click on the “Attach Policies Directly” button.

  • You will be required to add Amazon SES Full Access, Amazon SNS Full Access and IAM Read Only Access policies.
  • Once that is done, click on “Create User” to proceed.

Security Credentials
  • Hover on to the “Security Credentials” section and click on the “Create Access” button.

  • Click on the “Application Running Outside AWS” button.

  • You can have your access key by clicking on “Create Access Key” and clicking “Next”.

  • For future purposes, make sure to save the “Access Key” and “Secret Access Key” credentials.

Region Selection
  • Go to the top-right side of the screen to know about the region where your SES account is approved.

  • From the approved list, select your region.
SMTP Connection
  • Open app.yonoma.io and go to the top of the right side corner click profile and go to settings page.

  • Select SMTP Settings menu on left side menu.

  • Enter the “Region”, "Client ID", "Client Secret" and “Config Set” that were generated before.
  • Choose the "Server Status" and click on the “Update Changes” button.

And Voila! You have now connected your Amazon SES account through an API key successfully.
