What are Gmail and Yahoo’s bulk-sending requirements for 2024?
Google considers anyone who sends more than 5,000 messages to Gmail addresses in a single day a bulk sender. This applies to messages sent from the same primary domain.
To ensure email deliverability and avoid getting flagged as spam, bulk senders must comply with the following:
Authentication : Implement email authentication protocols like SPF and DKIM to prevent domain spoofing and ensure messages come from a legitimate source.
Valid Domain and IP : Sending domains and IPs must have valid forward and reverse DNS records (also known as PTR records).
Secure Transmission : Use a Transport Layer Security (TLS) connection to encrypt emails during transmission and protect user data.
Standard Formatting : Messages should adhere to the Internet Message Format standard (RFC 5322) for proper formatting and avoiding compatibility issues.
Unsubscribe Options : All emails must include a clear and easy-to-use unsubscribe mechanism.
Low Spam Rates : Maintain a low spam complaint rate reported in Google Postmaster Tools (ideally below 0.30%).
Enforcement Timeline : New senders (those who haven't sent over 5,000 emails to Gmail daily since January 1, 2024) face an even stricter & faster enforcement schedule.
By adhering to these requirements, bulk email senders can ensure their messages reach Gmail inboxes and avoid getting flagged as spam. It's important to note that these are the current guidelines as of May 9, 2024.
